Menergy 2026 The Weight of the Box
About the Workshop
Many men carry a set of unspoken rules about what it means to be strong, in control, and self-sufficient. These rules are rarely chosen consciously. They are inherited — from family, culture, and the environments we grow up in. Over time, they can become a kind of weight.
The Weight of the Box is a 60-minute, embodied, conversation-based workshop that takes a grounded look at these inherited norms. Through simple physical exercises, quiet reflection, and respectful conversation with other men, participants will begin to notice how these rules shape the way they move, speak, and relate — and what it costs to stay guarded or to carry everything alone.
Together, we will explore the difference between power over and power with, and consider how greater emotional honesty, accountability, and shared power can strengthen our relationships — with others and with ourselves.
This is not a lecture. It is not a therapy session. It is an invitation to step outside the constraints of traditional masculine norms — often referred to as the "Man Box" — and practice a more connected way of being alongside other men.
What to Expect
The session is grounded, practical, and respectful. You will not be asked to share anything you are not comfortable sharing. There is no pressure, no judgement, and no expectation that you will arrive with any particular experience or insight.
The workshop is designed to create genuine curiosity — not to fix anything, but to open a door.
By the end of the session, participants will have had the opportunity to:
•Recognise how traditional masculine norms are carried in the body and in behaviour.
•Experience a sense of connection and shared humanity with other men.
•Explore what it might look and feel like to relate with greater honesty and openness.
Every year, men from across Victoria gather in the small mountain town of Licola, on the banks of the Macalister River, for Menergy—a unique men’s gathering dedicated to connection, healing, and growth.
Menergy was created to meet the challenges of modern masculinity. Today, men are expected to be providers, protectors, and leaders while also showing vulnerability, emotional openness, and sensitivity. This can feel like a delicate balance—one that’s hard to navigate alone.
At Menergy, we come together to explore these challenges, to support one another, and to reclaim the essence of who we are as men. Through dozens of workshops, circles, and shared experiences, men discover new tools for resilience, create deeper relationships, and leave with a renewed sense of hope and belonging.
