Why We Are Here

The Men Spirit is a community-led initiative dedicated to men’s wellbeing. We exist because too many men are navigating life’s hardest moments in silence without the language, the space, or the community to do otherwise.

We offer something different. We treat lived experience as expertise. We use evidence-informed practice that never feels clinical. And we create spaces where men support men facilitated by people who have walked the path themselves.

"We gather to create a space for genuine connection and shared expression. We acknowledge the societal pressures and isolation men face, not as individual failings to be fixed, but as a shared journey. Our purpose here is to build a community of safety and belonging, where every man’s experience is valid, heard, and respected."

Our Approach: The Four Dimensions of Wellbeing

True health is more than managing crisis. It is about building the resources to live well. Our gatherings and mentoring programs are structured around a curriculum designed to foster holistic growth across four core dimensions:

  1. Emotions — Your Inner Compass: Understanding and working with what you feel. We provide the language and practice to reconnect with emotions, using them as signals rather than suppressing them.

  2. •Beliefs — Rewrite Your Story: Examining the stories that shape how you live. We create space to challenge limiting internal narratives and restrictive societal scripts about masculinity.

  3. •Relationships — Rebuild Your Connections: Building deeper connection with yourself and others. We focus on healthy boundaries, effective communication, and fostering genuine mateship.

  4. •Habits — Your Daily Practice: Small, consistent practices that create lasting change. We support men to move from insight to action, building a personal toolkit for daily wellbeing.

Our Theory of Change

Our approach is not just based on good intentions; it is grounded in a formal, evidence-informed Theory of Change. We operate from a salutogenic orientation—a health promotion approach that focuses on what creates and maintains health, rather than just what causes disease.

We aim to strengthen a man's 'Sense of Coherence'—helping him experience his life as comprehensible, manageable, and meaningful. By building internal resources and external support networks, we support men to move towards lasting wellbeing.

Our Core Values

Our work is guided by a clear set of principles that shape everything we do:

  • Connection over isolation: We believe that genuine connection is the antidote to the silent struggles many men face.

  • Vulnerability as strength: We recognise and honour emotional expression as a profound strength, not a weakness.

  • Prevention over crisis: We focus on creating health, resilience, and wellbeing rather than solely reacting to crisis.

  • Lived experience as expertise: We honour the wisdom men carry from their own journeys, valuing it alongside professional credentials.

  • Do no harm: All our practices are trauma-informed, designed to create safety, respect boundaries, and prioritise wellbeing.

A Message from the Founder

The foundation of The Men Spirit is built on a combination of professional expertise and profound personal history.

After more than two decades working in healthcare across Greece and Australia, and thirteen years working closely with some of our community's most vulnerable people, I saw firsthand the limitations of a purely clinical approach to men's wellbeing. But it was my own lived experience, navigating the depths of grief, divorce, and my own struggles with addiction that truly shaped this work.

I know what it is like to feel disconnected and to search for a way back to yourself. I also know what it takes to rebuild. This journey, with all its hardships, has been my greatest teacher. It fostered a resilience and self-awareness that clinical training alone cannot provide, and it created in me an unbreakable commitment to creating spaces where every man is and feels safe.

My mission is to create spaces where men can be their full selves, without judgment. It is about moving beyond the restrictive scripts of masculinity and building the skills for genuine connection, to ourselves and to each other. This work is my purpose. It is my way of giving back, ensuring other men have the support I once needed and still need.

Governance & Accountability

The Men Spirit is in the process of establishing a Board of Advisors and a Lived Experience Committee. These bodies will provide strategic guidance, community accountability, and ongoing program oversight. We are committed to building a governance structure that reflects the diversity of the men we serve and ensures our programs remain safe, effective, and true to our core values.
